Dr. Ellen Purpus is the Assistant Vice President for Enterprise & Innovation at the University of Nevada, Reno.  Dr. Purpus is responsible for expanding the University’s footprint in the entrepreneurial community. E&I is comprised of four subdivisions, and each plays a vital role in the University and regional entrepreneurial ecosystem: Enterprise & Commercialization, The Innevation Center University of Nevada, Reno—Powered by Switch, Nevada Center for Applied Research, and Nevada Industry Excellence. Enterprise & Commercialization is the University’s technology transfer office.  Prior to joining University of Nevada, Reno, Dr. Purpus was director of technology transfer for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Purpus is a frequent speaker for the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and the Licensing Executives Society (LES) and has been active in AUTM’s professional development program, including chairing and co-chairing the TOOLS, Essentials of Academic Licensing and Startup and Business Development courses since 2000.

Dr. Purpus earned her PhD in Pathology and Cell Biology from Thomas Jefferson University and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health.
