Kristin is an entrepreneur at heart. She is the former Director of IDEA at the University of Northern Colorado, and previously served as Director of Technology Ventures at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She has also served as Vice President for Marketing and Communications at the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM).
Kristin is an expert in all facets of technology transfer with particular emphasis on technology marketing, startup development, research collaborations, and strategic communications. In her roles at UNC and OHSU, Kristin co-developed and managed innovation development programs for technology development (“gap funding”) and startup creation. Over the course of her career she launched, or helped launch, over 50 for-profit and nonprofit companies. With special expertise in marketing, communications, web management, and software development, she has been a driving force in the creation of novel websites for technology marketing, e-learning, and e-licensing.
As chair/co-chair and faculty for AUTM Professional Development Courses for almost ten years, Kristin has taught innovation transfer and entrepreneurship courses across the globe. She has a Bachelor of Science with majors in bioscience and music, and a Master of Business Administration in technology entrepreneurship and law. Prior to technology transfer, Kristin had two careers – one in finance where she learned the ins-and-outs of investment and equity financing, and the other as CEO of a startup nonprofit medical association. In her spare time she plays clarinet with her local community band, loves to hike and ski, and is a member of the Portland Beer Choir.
