Chris Noble is an inventor, entrepreneur, technology transfer professional, and retired Director of Corporate Engagement for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Environmental Solutions Initiative. Prior to that role, Chris was a licensing officer in MIT’s Technology Licensing Office, responsible for energy technologies, where he also led international technology-transfer capacity-building engagements for MIT.

Before joining MIT, Chris worked in engineering, marketing, M&A and executive management for international energy and technology companies. He was subsequently on the founding teams for two startups, as VP Sales & Marketing and CEO. He is the lead inventor on two issued patents. Chris spent ten years as an independent consultant and investor, raising and negotiating financing for early-stage companies, and serving on the Boards of private technology companies and non-profits.

Chris is a Certified Licensing Professional, a Registered Technology Transfer Professional, and a published author in peer-reviewed journals. He received the Licensing Executive Society Deals of Distinction award in 2011. He lectures, consults and provides assessments and audits worldwide on university technology strategy; IP patenting, valuation, policies and capacity building; partnerships with industry; startup mentoring; and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Chris currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of University Technology Managers. He has a B.Eng. from McGill University and an MBA from MIT, has lived and worked in the US, Canada, South America and Europe, and is fluent in French and Spanish.
